Research Scouts Are Ready for Submissions
Research Scouts is an investment in the “Bold Science” objective of Michigan Medicine’s research strategic plan, “Great Minds, Greater Discoveries,” and its goals are to…
- Spark new scientific conversations and connections
- Unleash the creativity of our faculty
- Test bold ideas that may otherwise go unexplored
- Have fun while facilitating new lines of investigation
Research Scouts are given $150,000 and empowered and motivated to support their fellow researchers’ bold ideas. Scouts are searching for early-stage ideas that can transform our current understanding of a scientific concept or field, challenge common dogma, or are wildly new and imaginative.
Researchers can submit their ideas by completing this brief questionnaire.
“It’s difficult for great minds to achieve great discoveries when there isn’t a mechanism to financially support ideas that are outside-the-box,” noted Dr. Kunkel. “It will be exciting to watch the Research Scouts program enable unconventional scientific ideas to emerge and bear fruit.”
