Updated Grant Proposal Sampler Now Available
The Grant Services and Analysis office, part of the UMMS Office of Research, has released an updated version of the Grant Proposal Sampler (level 2 required). The repository features examples of successfully funded grant applications with peer review comments, as well as additional information to help quickly identify which proposals may be of the most interest.
The Grant Proposal Sampler includes projects generously provided by Medical School faculty representing NIH, Department of Defense, other federal agencies, and foundation awards. The examples offer insight into proposal development, including:
- proposal writing (e.g. organization, detail)
- models of required sections
- crafting responses to peer reviewer’s comments
Populated with dozens of well-written proposals from researchers across campus, the samples show the research plan, PI biosketch, budget justification, facilities descriptions, and human subjects portions of many applications. These elements provide a close look at the organization and flow of a successful project. The opportunity to review the samples available also provides a unique mentorship experience for those new to submissions.
The next phase of the Grant Proposal Sampler is planned to include specialty components (for instance data sharing), and further federal clinical trials, diversity supplements, and foundation examples.
The Grant Services and Analysis team is always interested in expanding the offerings, and faculty are encouraged to contribute successful application packages. If you have a project you are willing to share with Michigan Medicine colleagues, please contact the Grant Services & Analysis office at msgrants@umich.edu.
