Novel Approaches to Targeting Undruggable Transcription Factors in Cancer

December 8, 2021 - 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM
Vidyasagar Koduri

Michigan Medicine welcomes guest lecturer Vidyasagar Koduri, M.D., Ph.D., with introductory remarks by Dr. Steven Kunkel, Chief Scientific Officer and Executive Vice Dean for Research.

Dr. Koduri is an Instructor at Harvard Medical School and a Fellow in the Kaelin Lab at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. His research has included mapping the critical protein sequence (“Degron”) on the transcription factor IKAROS that is necessary and sufficient for degradation in response to immunomodulatory drugs (IMiDs), and demonstrated that this sequence can be used as a tool to toggle the expression of proteins of interest.

Dr. Koduri has also developed a novel positive-selection screening platform to identify small molecules and genes that regulate the stability of proteins of interest, and used this system to identify Spautin-1, a novel degrader of IKAROS, and CDK2 as a regulator of the stability of ASCL1, a critical transcription factor in small cell lung cancer.
